Ipsy Glam Bag August 2014

It's that time again where I tell you what I got in my Ipsy Glam Bag!  If you don't know what Ipsy is, it's a monthly subscription service.  You pay $10 a month and you receive 4-5 sample or full size products and a great little makeup bag. If you are interested click here!

This month the products came in this cute orange polka dot pencil style bag. It is really cute and I think would be great for a highschooler to take personal items to school!

The first thing I pulled out is this sample size of the Forever Blush from Coastal Scents. I have used eye shadows from coastal scents so I had high hopes for this blush duo.  As you can see one is more of a bronzer or a contour color called Fresh and the other is a nice bright rosey pink called Elegant.  The sample is a bit small so it makes it a little hard to get the product out but when you do . . . WOW!  The pigmentation on these is amazing!  A little goes a LONG way! The full size of these are a great price at $7.95!  Here is the link to Coastal Scents Forever Blush if you are interested!

Next up is a sample of the new Urban Decay mascara called Perversion. I'm not bothered by high end mascara.  I have never really used it or spent the money on it. I tried this and I must say I REALLY like it!  I'm not sure I could see spending $22 on mascara but it is a good formula!  It is a VERY VERY VERY black mascara that makes your lashes look thick and dark.  I do like it and will probably use all of the sample but I don't see myself buying the full size. But here is the link in case you want to!

Here is the sample size of Extra-gentle dry shampoo with oat milk by Klorane. I had never heard of this brand but I do love a good dry shampoo to give my hair some body and texture.  I have tried this several times and I can't say it's anything amazing but it does its job.  It also smells nice which is a bonus.  The full size is $19.50 and you could buy it here if you want!

Next is a black silk mini kajal kohl-liner from Lord & Berry.  This is a tiny little pencil! The color is a nice dark black and as with most coal liners it smudges out easily.  If you are looking to do a smokey look this would be great.  But if you are looking for a stay all day black liner this is not the one! Their website is down at the time I'm writing this so I can't give you a price but the here is the link when it gets back up and running!

And last is an every day nothing special to write home about lip balm!  This is the Jersey Shore Sun MONGONGO nutrient dense anti-aging lip conditioner.  I have the flavor Mandarin Green Orange Ginger.  I'm not sure what all the means but for me it's just ok.  This is the one I would keep as a back up or throw it in the travel bag. The smell is nice and it goes on smoothly but it's not anything I'm going to rush to buy!  If you want to try it here is the link!

Disclaimer:  I buy the Ipsy bag with my own money and all opinions are my own.  If you subscribe to Ipsy using my link I will get points to earn more make up but I am not financially compensated. Also the links for the products are simply to the websites I do not get anything from you clicking on or buying from these sites!

New Product Review! Rubbermaid Shaker Bottle

I was recently chosen by Bzzagent.com to review a a new shaker bottle by Rubbermaid. Bzzagent.com sent me this shaker bottle for free but the opinions are definitely my own!  First I have to say I am a little late writing this review (Ok I've been a little MIA lately in general!) but it's because I wanted to really give this shaker bottle all the challenges & use it in all the ways that I thought I might use it.  So here goes with my review! (I feel so professional!)

Here is the new shaker bottle.  From what I can tell it currently comes in two colors.  This is the pink & purple color.  They also have a grey & green color. The bottle itself is 20 oz or 600 ml and retails for around $10.

A few things I LOVE about this bottle.  First it is ALL dishwasher safe!  So after I make my shake I simply rinse it out and then throw everything in the dishwasher.  I can't handle hand washing anything. I'm a busy mom that doesn't have time for that!  Second the lid is a HUGE plus.  On regular shaker bottles the lid snaps closed and I always worry that it's not closed and that my shake is going to be all over the kitchen or van.  The lid on this bottle screws closed like on a pop bottle.  I was SO happy to see this feature.  I don't have to worry that the lid is secretly open and I'm about the drench myself with shake.  Third I love the "ball" that mixes the ingredients together.

Look at that mixer ball!  It is a completely plastic star shaped paddle ball.  It is super easy to rinse and mixes everything perfectly!  I wanted to make sure I REALLY gave it the test so here are some things I mixed without any issues!

I mixed up 2 different protein powders with water.  Absolutely no issues with lumps or not getting mixed or the powder getting stuck in the ball.  It mixed perfectly!

I also mixed protein powder, yogurt, and water.  NO ISSUES!!  Absolutely no lumps or issues with things getting stuck!  It was a great smoothie style option!

And last but not least I wanted to use it as a water bottle.  I take water with me everywhere and I like to bring a reusable bottle so I can just fill it up anywhere I go. And this worked amazing!  I even gave it to the kids to test out.  Because you know anything that is mine is really theirs too! Could they open the screw top lid? They answer was a resounding YES!! Did they have any issues drinking out of it? Absolutely NOT!  They loved it! Mr. D even asked if he could get one for himself!  I might actually look into that because I just love this bottle so much!

I would highly recommend this bottle if you are looking for a good high quality shaker bottle. It would be worth it in my opinion just to use for water.  I love it that much!!

And the most exciting thing?!  I have coupons to give away!!!!!  I have 6 coupons for $1.50 off the bottle to give away!  So leave a comment below telling me if you have every used a shaker and what would you use this shaker to mix! I will draw 6 names at random and send you the coupon!!

Running Recap 8/04 - 8/09

Hello!!  Good Morning!  I'm currently writing this at 7 am. Yes that is early for me. We have been sleeping in like crazy this summer but it's all coming to an end on Wednesday. I got up at my normal "school" time and woke up the boys.  Neither were very excited.  But I thought I would give you my run recap for this week!

I forgot to take a picture from my run on Monday. But I did find this inspirational picture from a girl I follow on instagram.  "amandajaks"  If you don't follow her, go do it, and tell her I sent you!  And if you don't follow me on instagram go find me!  It's LoveLacey365 . On Monday I ran my usual Monday miles with Kellie.  4 miles in 46:35 which is not too bad.  We don't really push too hard on Mondays we really just get out and enjoy.

Next up I did some speed work on Thursday. I decided to do a nice 4 mile progressive run. So I got on the treadmill and went for it.  I was pretty happy with this run other than it was HOT and the treadmill drains me mentally.  But it's all good training for my longer runs!

Anyone else drip sweat while they are on the treadmill? This is from my elbow?!  I'm not sure how but I sweat like a dude when I run on the mill.  Oh well.  That's just more strength (and another glass of wine) for me.

Saturday was to be a nice long run. It was supposed to be 11 miles so I fueled up with this AMAZING salad.  I couldn't get out until about 2 pm so I wanted to make sure I got a good breakfast & lunch.

We had rented a couple movies Friday night and they needed to go back so I literally ran them back.  The store is only about half a mile or so from our house so it was just adding to my long run.  After this is where my run went downhill FAST!!  I went on my normal route but there was a really strong headwind.  At one point I was pushing as hard as I could and was only running a 11:30/12 min mile?!  That got really old really quickly and started to break me mentally.  Between the wind and the extremely hot sun I started to fade fast! At mile 3 (just a little over) I had to sit down under a little tree.  The one bad thing about my usual running route is that it is full sun. There are really no trees unless you go into some one's yard (which I may have done!).

I stopped at around mile 5 to grab some water from Mr. J's grandparents. I was really spent by this point but I was at my turn around point (to head towards home) and I wasn't going to give up.  Well bless Mr. J's grandmother (who is English and just about the sweetest little thing ever!!) she called my father-in-law and told him that she thought he should go pick me up. He found me at mile 7.17 sitting down in some shade. He didn't really ask if I needed a ride, he basically told me to get in.  And he took me home while he told me all about his recent surgery.

At first I was really upset that I had quit. I am not one to quit.  I usually would have run myself to death before I would quit. But after I got home and took a shower I realized that stopping my run was probably the best idea.  I'm pretty sure I would have had heat stroke if I would have continued. I was already having troubles moving, and when I got home my head started pounding.  I took a cool shower, got some food, and took a nap! I felt better physically after my nap but I'll be honest, I was still really mad that I quit.  I felt like I got a DNF (did not finish). It still bums me out to be honest. But I have to put my health first. I won't finish any run if I'm injured or recovering from heat stroke. Well I feel great now and am ready to tackle this weeks runs!!

Hope you all had a great week!!

Running Recap 7/28 - 8/2

HELLO and Happy Saturday!  Can you believe it's already August! I'm not sure how that happened but  my boys start school in 11 days?! Where has the time gone?  I'm happy to report that even with taking last week off I still managed to log 65.93 miles for the month of July! Not the 100 I hoped for but I KNOW I will hit that goal this month! So let's talk about how my week went!

First up were my usual Monday miles with Kellie. I wasn't sure about the temperature so I decided to go with my very loud black and white capris and a pink tank top that I don't wear often.  The only problem? My headband didn't match! Oh the problems of a stunner (stylish runner).

Kellie and I got out and crushed 4 nice paced miles. It felt really good!  This is my "I crushed it" face!

Here is my running partner on Wednesday (and by running I mean he napped while I pounded away on the treadmill!) begging me to let him on the bed. Mr. J was working late and I was laying down watching tv after my run. How could I say NO?!

Some fartlek style speed work on the treadmill. A nice duckface selfie to begin my run.  And I ended my run in the dark. It was kind of fun turning off all the lights and just running by the glow of the treadmill screen.

Thursday Mr. J came home early from work, so I got to run outside! It felt so good. Especially when it started raining and I got a few sprinkles on me. Unfortunately it waiting until after I got home to REALLY downpour but the few sprinkles felt nice. This was another nice paced 4 miles! The best part was as I was heading out of our subdivision a guy yelled at me "It's going to rain you'd better head back home!". I just laughed.  If only he knew me!

And last but not least was my long run for this week. I had a rough day yesterday with a migraine and not eating or drinking very well but I was determined not to let that set me back in my training. This is my I'm awake but not ready to move face! I really need to buy a few other headbands! LOL

Here are some of the chickens I was telling you about a few weeks ago.  They weren't out the first time I passed their house but on my way back they were ALL out! I think there were 2 roosters that were crowing at me and maybe 8 hens clucking around. They were so pretty! I wish I could have stopped and taken more pictures. They were not just the regular white chickens or the red ones. They were black and white and some were speckled. They looked so happy running in the bean field and around their yard. I love chickens!

And that's me DONE for the week! I had a rough go of my run this morning. Between the migraine and the lack of food and water yesterday, it was a tough morning. My stomach hurt off and on making me very nauseous a few times. My hip hurt at one point, my one calf, and an ab muscle. I was a hot mess but I got in my 10 miles and did it with a time that I'm pretty happy about!

So that gives me a total of  22.41 for the week! It only goes up from here!
