Favorite Bloggers

I LOVE reading blogs. I also LOVE watching vlogs. I guess I just like to see what other people's lives are like and how different they are from mine. I thought it would be fun to tell you some of my favorite blogs!

First up is an awesome blog from a girl named Jillian! She is the author of ReFashionista. She refashions clothes.  What does that mean?  It means that she goes to her local thrift stores and buys clothes that no one else would probably buy.  She then takes them home and completely changes them into something really cool that you WANT to wear!

Would you wear this?  Go see what she does with this dress!  I promise you WILL want to wear it when she is done!

Next up is a running blog I follow religiously (and have mentioned here before) by an amazing runner named Janae! She writes The Hungry Runner Girl. She is an awesome runner and mommy!  She loves to eat (one reason I follow her) & always shows the amazing food she is eating.  She is really funny and I think we would be BFFs if we lived closer and she knew I existed. LOL

See!  Running clothes & food! How can you NOT love that?!?

Next is someone I actually know in real life!!  Ryan is a friend of a friend that I have met and hung out with a couple of times.  He decided a few years ago to sell everything, quit his job, & hike the Appalachian Trail.  He did the whole thing and has gone on a few other AMAZING adventures. Like hitchhiking across America?! But his latest adventure is him hiking across Ireland & now the UK.  I LOVE reading his blog and seeing his pictures.  He is REALLY talented and has a knack for meeting the most interesting people!   You can find him at A Backpacker's Life List.

Because who doesn't want to see pictures like this as often as possible?!

I think that's it for now!  I have some other bloggers that I like and follow but these have to be some of my absolute favorites!  I'm not sure how you can feel like you know a person from their blog but I definitely feel like I know each of these people!  Go and check them all out!! You will NOT be sorry!!

Running on Empty

I started reading this book a few days ago and I can't put it down!  Mr.Marshall Ulrich has an AMAZING story!  Here is a link to his website and you can read more about him.  But I HIGHLY recommend that you get this book and be inspired. ESPECIALLY if you are a runner but I think everyone can relate to some of the struggles and feelings he has gone through.

I do want to share something that he shares in the book though.  He was asked to talk to a group of Navy SEAL recruits about endurance and his amazing running.  He put together "Ten Commandments of Endurance" but his friends like to call the list "Marshall Law". I want to share his "Marshall Law" with you because I feel like this could apply to not just running or an endurance challenge but really life in general!  So here they are!

1. Expect a journey and a battle
2. Focus on the present and set intermediate goals
3. Don't dwell on the negative
4. Transcend the physical
5. Accept your fate
6. Have confidence that you will succeed
7. Know that there will be an end
8. Suffering is okay
9. Be kind to yourself
10. Quitting is not an option

Questions of the day!
What are you currently reading?  Who inspires you?

Random Fact Time

Welcome to random fact time!  I don't know that I will make this a regular thing but I found this picture and thought it would be fun to share a little more about myself so you can get to know me.

So the random fact for this week?  I have an obsession LOVE England. Not just England really but basically the entire UK.  I have a serious case of wanderlust and often think that if I wasn't married and didn't have kids I would just travel the world. There are so many amazing things to see out there that it's a shame that we have to spend our lives stuck in one place. Or at least that is how I feel.  SO I do love the UK.  I was lucky enough to visit Scotland 3 years ago and it was one of the most amazing vacations I have EVER had!  Any time I see anything with the Union Jack I almost have to buy it!  I found these socks at Forever 21 for something like $3 a piece.  You KNOW I had to have them. I also bought a shirt that says London.  They had a really cute sweater that I may go back and get because I just feel like it would go with my socks so well!

What is a random fact about you?

Some Light Reading

I was never a big reader when I was a kid. I found it hard to find books that could keep my interest. Even as an adult I struggle to find content that keeps my attention.  I've tried romance novels and for the most part I don't like them. I've tried true life stories and unless it's something that interests me I just can't finish the book.  I can't tell you how many times someone have told me, "You HAVE to read this book.  It's so amazing!" and I read it and it's either boring or sad or just plain HORRIBLE! I do have a few favorite authors but in general I just kind of go off other people's suggestions.  But recently I decided to try finding a few books for myself.  So I picked a few subjects that I'm passionate about and went for it.  The four (yes four) that I am currently reading are "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire", "Run Less Run Faster", "Mile Markers", & "Just Give Me Jesus".

I am just over half way through with "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" and I have to say I really like it.  It's a short book but it has a lot of good nuggets in it.  The basic overview is as Christians we need to be constantly seeking God, His will, His leading, and calling upon His power. We are weak and powerless without Him and we need to quit relying on our own strength and wishing things were different.  We need to seek Him!  It talks about the power of prayer and how important it is to be praying constantly.  It really is a good book.  I would recommend it! It also has a study guide in the back to help you reflect on your own life.

I am only a few pages into "Run Less Run Faster" but I have heard good things about this book.  It's written by Runners World Magazine so you can trust their training! I'm excited to read this and see what I can tweak in my training to make me a better/faster runner.

The book "Mile Markers" I have not started.  A running page I follow on Facebook mentioned this book.  She was talking about praying her way through a marathon.  Her basic premise was that she would pray for a different person for each mile of her marathon.  That's 26 different people if you didn't know!  I thought this was such an amazing idea.  It keeps your mind off yourself and any pain you might be in and focused on God and the needs of others.  Anyways!  She mentioned this book in that post.  So I'm curious to see what it has to say.

"Just Give Me Jesus" I have read just one chapter but I love it!  It has such great wisdom and insight!  I'm excited to read this book. This one also has a study guide in the back and I'm excited to continue filling that in and seeing what God has to teach me through this book.

So as you can see I am obviously passionate about Christ (which I hope you knew before this!) and running.  I am excited to see where God is going to lead me this year with my running and my relationship with Him.  I plan to fill you in as I finish these books and let you know if they are worth your time or not.  But so far "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" should DEFINITELY be on your reading list!

What kind of books do you like to read?  What was the last book you read that you LOVED?

Oops! I did it again!

Yeah I totally grew up with Britney Spears!  She and I are actually only a few months apart so I always felt a bit connected to her.  We even had kids around the same time and 2 boys close in age.  Hmm maybe there is a connection after all.  Britney Spears and I are soul sistas!

ANYWAYS!!!  I guess I really didn't do it AGAIN since I don't usually splurge on myself.  My last big splurge on myself was my riding boots 2 years ago and they were $60.  Well I guess that's not completely true because my running shoes are more than that BUT as a runner we don't count that as a splurge because you actually NEED good running shoes.  Now whether or not you need 5 pairs?  That is a different blog post!

So about a week or so ago Urban Decay came out with their newest Naked Palette.  The Naked 3 palette is more of a cool pinky, purple, romantic palette.  Now I have been drooling over the Naked & Naked 2 palette for years!  But the $50 price tag kept me away.  I mean really?  $50 for a neutral palette? Well it was more like $50 for anything that isn't necessary??  Ouch! So I held out and kept dreaming that my husband would come home one day with one of them as a special surprise.  Well fast forward (or is that rewind?) to last Friday, I got an email from Ulta that the Urban Decay Naked 3 palette was now available on their website.  OH EM GEE!!!  It was 7:42 in the morning (yes I remember the exact time) and so I jumped online fully expecting it to be sold out. That had happened to me before on the Urban Decay website. BUT!!!!   Guess what?  It wasn't sold out!!  Guess who bought it?  THIS GIRL!  Guess when it's going to be delivered?  TOMORROW!!!!  And I will have a full review (just like the other 5,000 beauty bloggers) later this week or early next.  Maybe next weeks Makeup Monday will be a review!  Would you like that?

The Sing Off is on & it's elimination time so I'd better pay attention!!  Talk to you tomorrow!!

About Me

Here is that awkward first date introduction post I promised!

That's me! I'm Lacey, a 31 year old married mom of 3. I have been married to Mr. J for the last 10 years! (wow did that go fast!) I have been so lucky that for the past 6 years I have stayed at home with our kids and have tried to keep our household running smoothly. Our children are Mr. D age 7, Mr. S age 6, and Miss V age 4.  And YES they are very close together. And YES they were all planned!  It has been crazy busy but I love it! And I have tried not to let my stay-at-home status equal frumpy clothes or  lack of makeup.  I try to keep up with at least some of the latest trends but I also really LOVE classic pieces in a wardrobe.  I love dressing up but I also love dressing down. Nothing like jeans & a t-shirt to make you feel comfy (well maybe yoga pants would be better!)  I am  passionate about a lot of things and I LOVE to talk!  I hope to share more of who I am and what I love in the weeks to come!
